 U.S. Student Financial Aid Options for U.S. Degree-Seeking Students

Below are options available to U.S. students enrolling at Salzburg College.

1. FAFSA & Aid Through Northern Illinois University (NIU)
Eligible U.S. students can access Federal Grants and Loans by applying through Northern Illinois University (NIU):
• Apply for FAFSA: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as part of your NIU application. This process is free and should be addressed early.
• Budget Creation: The NIU Study Abroad Office will build a financial aid budget for you based on your FAFSA eligibility.
• Note: Only federal aid applies to studies with NIU at Salzburg College.

2. VA Education Benefits Through Salzburg College
For eligible U.S. veterans and military families, VA Education Benefits are accessible directly through Salzburg College:
• Do NOT Apply through NIU: Applications for VA Education Benefits must be made through Salzburg College.
• Enrollment: When applying, list “Salzburg College” as your school and select the Bachelor of General Studies program (this applies regardless of your final program choice).
