Pathway Courses Expat Bridge Program

The program includes two semester-long German language courses (levels A1/1–C1), designed to help students master the language, connect with locals, and enrich their daily interactions. In addition, the course Austrian History, Politics, Society & Culture provides deep insights into the country’s rich cultural and social fabric. To complement classroom learning, students can also take part in the weekly Deutsch-Stammtisch, an informal platform for practicing German, building connections, and sharing experiences in a lively social, cultural, or natural setting.

Pathway Courses College Preparation Program (U.S.A.)

The immersive two-semester program integrates English language mastery, proficiency in Western culture, university study skills, academic writing, and content-based coursework that reflects the American university experience. Students complete four semester-long courses in English as a Second Language (ESL), one course in Western Culture (which may substitute for the SAT preparation course for college credit), and one semester-long SAT preparation course. In addition, students may choose to explore one or two semester courses in Studio Art or opt for private music instrument instruction at an additional cost. Courses are scheduled Monday through Thursday, totaling 15–21 hours per week, with a full-time load of four courses per semester, mirroring standard U.S. university class structures.

The curriculum includes four semester-long courses in German as a Second Language, one semester-long course in Western Culture (which may be taken for college credit in place of the SAT preparation course), and the option to explore one or two semester courses in Studio Art or Private Music Instrument Instruction, with additional fees for the latter. Courses run Monday through Thursday, totaling 15–21 hours per week, and a full-time schedule consists of four to five courses per semester, following the standard structure of U.S. university class meetings.

Pathway Courses Dual Enrollment Program

The Salzburg College Summer High School Dual Enrollment Program allows motivated high school students to enroll in college-level courses while completing their high school diplomas, with the option to earn up to 6 college credit hours per summer. Students may choose any two courses from the list below and study alongside traditional college students in an immersive university environment, gaining early exposure to academic rigor, strengthening college readiness, and building a competitive advantage for college admissions while benefiting from potential cost savings through transferable credits.

Degrees & Badges Courses University Transfer Program (A.A.)

The University Transfer Program follows the Illinois state university system curriculum and mirrors Northern Illinois University’s Associate-level requirements, including Foundational Studies, Knowledge Domains and Studies Domains coursework. Credits earned at Salzburg College are transferable to four-year colleges and universities across the United States. After successfully completing the first 60 undergraduate credits, students are guaranteed admission to the Bachelor of General Studies Program at Salzburg College or to degree programs offered directly through Northern Illinois University (NIU), with some restrictions applying to select majors.

The Bachelor of General Studies (B.G.S.) ECC Program follows a structured curriculum with predetermined requirements in Foundational Studies, Knowledge Domains, Study Domains, and electives. Offered at Salzburg College, the B.G.S. emphasizes Economics, Communication, and Culture, preparing students for professional growth in an international context through interdisciplinary academic training. The curriculum develops leadership, cultural competence, and essential soft skills, while integrating emerging topics such as neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and environmental issues. Broad-based coursework in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences fosters critical thinking, effective communication, ethical awareness, and global perspective. Within the program, students may choose one or more minors in Economics, Communication, German, or Global Studies.

Offered at Salzburg College, the program prepares students for professional growth in an international setting through interdisciplinary training that integrates economic analysis, strategic communication, and sports and fitness studies. A distinctive applied component requires students to complete a sport- and fitness-related internship across six semesters and to actively participate on a local sports team, ensuring sustained practical experience alongside academic learning. The curriculum emphasizes leadership, cultural competence, and essential soft skills while incorporating emerging topics such as neuroscience and artificial intelligence, and provides a broad-based education that develops critical thinking, communication skills, ethical awareness, and global perspective.

Degrees & Badges Courses Graduate Badge Global Inclusive Leadership (I.C.L.)

The Graduate Summer School in Global Inclusive Leadership offers an intensive, interdisciplinary exploration of leadership, communication, and cultural competence in an increasingly complex and interconnected world. Designed for graduate students, recent bachelor’s graduates, and professionals, the program develops advanced understanding of inclusive leadership practices, cultural intelligence, and the dynamics of power, identity, and communication across borders. Participants examine how culture shapes political, economic, and organizational contexts while strengthening their ability to lead, influence, and collaborate effectively in diverse environments. The curriculum integrates theoretical foundations with applied research and contemporary perspectives on globalization, religion, language, and cognition, preparing graduates for leadership roles in business, international organizations, NGOs, education, public service, and media where inclusive leadership skills are essential.
